ScoobyCamTools 5 has been released! Since version 4 has been released back in 2007, ScoobyCamTools has become one of the most popular and most mighty tools for camera animation on the market. With today’s version 5, Jack takes it one step further and implements several new features and improvements: – Physical Camera Rig – Realistic footstep simulation based on scientific findings – Camera Morphing with soft interpolation – Target splines – Dynamic chasing of objects – New Depth Control – New GUI and Workflow.
Hi, I just released new Builds of all my plugins: ScoobyCamTools, SplineSPREAD and SurfaceSPREAD. Now all these three plugins also run in CINEMA 4D R11.5. Just request the demo, als usual, and the mail will come with additional download links for R11.5. ScoobyCamTools The virtual Camera Man now also wanders through R11.5.
ScoobyCamTools Website (SplineSPREAD Sweet spline animations, now also in R11.5. R11.5 Render instances are also supported now. SplineSPREAD Website (SurfaceSPREAD 1.00.18 This plugin is not only compatible with R11.5 now, it also got a couple of nice improvements. Users that still use R10 or R11.0 are recommended to update, too! SPREADrock Object: The new Pre Subdivision for custom polygon objects makes it possible to make the resulting rock keep the shape of the original object more exact, while still offering great detail.
Harley Davidson Cam Tools
SPREADrock Object: Behaviour of LOD (e.g. Display Tag) improved SurfaceSPREAD Object: Added Animation Offset, to make the animation of clones asynchronous. SurfaceSPREAD Object: New effect: 'Offset by Material'. The Clones can be offset from the surface using a material. This way you can e.g. Prevent the clones from sinking into a displaced surface.
SurfaceSPREAD Object: Added new 'Min' parameter in the Performance Filter 'Distance from Camera', the let clones start appearing in a certain distance from the camera. Together with the 'Distribution Override Tag' you can e.g. Use high poly shrubs for the foreground, and low poly versions of the models for the background. SurfaceSPREAD Object: Support for R11.5 render instances. Finally you can use the power of real instancing if you render enormously huge landscapes with the Advanced Render! Distribution Override Tag: All Performance Filters are now also available in the tag Plugin: In R11.5 the license file can now optionally put into the User folder. This is especially useful for MAC users whose license files tend to disappear when the plugin folder is updated.
SurfaceSPREAD Website (I wish you lots of fun with it, and are looking forward to some feedback:) Cheers, Jack P.S.: Of course, all the files for my plugins that you used in R11.0 will still work in R11.5. P.P.S.: Note, how much faster SPREADscape calculates in R11.5:). Alas, I would be careful what images I post on Facebook. Any image (or video) you put up on facebook they have a limited license on your work to use for a multitude of different purposes. Basically, they can make money off of your work and not pay you a penny.
Here's the relevant clause: For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos and videos ('IP content'), you specifically give us the following permission, subject to your privacy (and application settings (you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook ('IP License'). This IP License ends when you delete your IP content or your account unless your content has been shared with others, and they have not deleted it. That's a pretty scary thing, and I've bolded the especially scary parts. I will NEVER post any of my work on facebook.
Perhaps CGS has a similar clause in their terms, but that wouldn't scare me since at least it's related to the computer graphics field and I would have no problem being affiliated with CGS. But having my work affiliated with Facebook, or any other social networking site, is something I don't want. So, I hope you don't expect us to share there;).The preceding was also a testament to how cool SurfaceSpread is. I'll actually subscibe to a fansite on Facebook that I intend to never contribute to, just to say 'I'm a part of it':D Just lookin' out for us, still a cool idea to help spread the word;) kvb Edit: I didn't see anything in the 'privacy' or 'application' settings that would mitigate this either. Their is no 'don't steal my stuff' checkbox or anything like that:D. In R10 and R11, the license file has to be in the SurfaceSPREAD folder. In R11.5 the license file can be put either in the SurfaceSPREAD folder or in the user folder.
Please install the appropriate builds. Cheers, Jack I have installed the correct builds and done exactly as per instructions. It's not working in R11 with the new update on Tiger. I don't know if anyone else can confirm this but I am having a problem with 1.00.18 at least reverted to 1.00.16 and this works fine.
Also what is the correct workflow for using poly objects with the spread rock tool. I am putting it into the Spread rock object. Is this correct.
If I try to hide the poly object I don't see anything. This isn't clear in the manual. All the best Rich. Hah, yeah jack, when's the cloud and atmospherics addition coming!?;) Probably not at all;-) AdvancedRender comes with SKY, which is able to create great atmosphere with a little tweaking.
And on the VrayForC4D forum I saw some images of Vray Volumetrics for Max, which - I hope - will be available in C4D future versions. Also, there's the Ozone plugin. I think I can invest my time in more interesting and more necessary developments. It really is a great plugin. I'm still to use it to it's full potential but i'm currently planting vast areas of greenery with ease:) Nice to hear. If you have any picture you can show, I would be happy to see it. I'm always curious what people do with my plugins:) Greetings, Jack.
I was wondering, is it possible to instance several different trees and plants at once (ecosystemlike) or is the best option to make a few surfacespread objects where each one has it's own tree? And a second question: variations are now possible with rotation and scale and offset etc, but could there be also be some texturevariation?
So each instance get's a little different coloration? Just trying to find ways to have a landscape populated in a very natural way (randomness). Nevertheless it already works like magic! I was wondering, is it possible to instance several different trees and plants at once (ecosystemlike) or is the best option to make a few surfacespread objects where each one has it's own tree? I would put them all into the same SurfaceSPREAD Object.
That way, you can use the 'Minimum Distance' filter to prevent intersections. Could there be also be some texturevariation? So each instance get's a little different coloration? Just trying to find ways to have a landscape populated in a very natural way (randomness). Of course, just use the SurfaceSPREAD shader.
You will find it in the shader selection menu in all materials that support channel shaders (e.g. C4D Standard Material, and VrayForC4D Material). See chapter 2.8 (page 38) in the manual PDF for more info about the shader. Also, there is the Bookshelf tutorial (chapter 3.2, page 49), which shows how to use the shader to create different colorations of objects. You can drop multiple objects into the same spread object and therefore some great variation.
Exactly:) For seperating plants at altitude I'd go with seperate surfacespreads. My tip is: Use the 'Distribution Override Tag', which you will find in the Object Manager's tag menu (or in the context menu, when you right-click on an object in the OM). Attach it to an object that you want to clone with SurfaceSPREAD and override the SurfaceSPREAD object's distribution settings with other parameters.
That way, you can make a different distribution for each kind of clones, and still have them all together in one SurfaceSPREAD Object. See chapter 2.7 (page 37) in the manual PDF for more information about the tag. Cheers, Jack. It was 6 months of development, and my beta testers requested quite a lot of features they needed for the projects they were doing with the plugin.
The tag and the shader are essential for creating realistic distribution and look;-) Hi Jack, I am very keen to get your plug in not for the landscape animation, havent tried it yet as i donot required it, but i was wondering if these plug in could have some sort of dynamics built in. I am not talking about rigid bodies but more fluid kind like Hair does for example?
Perhaps what aboout if you rig a tree with IK Spline add a vibrate tag and Surface Spread these tree, add a bit of variation here and there with the Surface Spread Shder. Thanks and have a nice day. Such a thing is not implemented, and I'm afraid it would be a great performance killer. Just imagine you have 10,000 tree clones and each one has to evaluate an IK chain. There is, however, a parameter for offsetting the keyframe animation of the clones by a random amount of time.
So, if your original tree is animated with keyframes, you can create a forest of separately moving trees. The downside is that animation created by expression tags (e.g. The IK tag) is not supported. You would have to bake the animation to position/rotation or PLA keyframes. The reason is simply that the related functions in the CINEMA 4D SDK do not offer support for expressions.
Also, letting the clones move separately will probably not work with (render) instances, since their geometry is always an exact copy of the original geometry. That's just due to the principle of instancing. You can of course just create a number of animated trees (they can also be animated with expression tag, such as the IK tag) and create clones of those. All clones of a model will move synchronous, but if you make a different animation for each object you clone, you will still get a pretty looking result, and you will also be able to use render instances. Cheers, Jack. How about the possibility to create several static trees and a few grass animated via Hair Module and Surface Spread it in my landscape?
Of course, you can clone animated and non-animated objects with the same SurfaceSPREAD Object. The animation offset will simply show no offect on non-animated objects. Another idea could be and inbuilt wind that the clones could react to it, but the Surface Spread Shader can add variety The would mean to write some kind of wind deformer that is applied internally to the clones. Of course, such a thing would be possible. But it would never look really realistic. To get a realistic movement from a tree, the plugin would have to know the tree's structure, and that would mean: Rigging the tree.
And then we have the expression tag problem again, until the C4D SDK comes up with a function that allows offsetting expression animation. Also, the deformer solution would not work with render instances, I suppose.
Greetings, Jack. I was trying to use a cube (primitiv) as a surface but is not accepted. All other primitives are alright, only the cube cannot be used.
Is there reason for this? An editable cube is no problem, but the parametric one is a no go. I checked the manual this time (;) ) and read that the cube should work as a surface.
And a second observation is a crash when I use a material as the base for a Spreadscape object. The Spreadscape is formed according to my greyscale image in the colorchannel, but as soon as I hit render or move around in the viewport I get a crash. Is this a bug? Thanks, odo Edit: I also tried this in R11 with the same results for the cube and the spreadscape crash R11.5 OSX 10.5.8.
